The embarrassment of D-League riches that is the Austin Toros have been plundered of late. In the last week, big men Andre Brown and Charles Gaines have left the team for contracts in Europe. It’s the price you pay for putting a good team on the floor. The Toros lead the Southwest Division at 16-7, and their record owed much to the strong play of Brown and Gaines.

The Toros have responded to their losses by signing Pops Mensah-Bonsu to the team. Mensah-Bonsu is a former D-League All Star Game MVP. During the 07/08 campaign he played for Benetton Treviso, averaging 8.3 points and 9.2 rebounds. Pops should join the team in time for this weekend’s games. We’ll keep you posted.
