Letting the Kids Play

When was the last time you saw an attempted alley-oop during a Spurs game?

Pops Mensah-Bonsu

Malik Hairston

(HT: ChampionSpellor2, whoever you are, thanks for getting this up on YouTube so quickly. And thanks to Bruno for bringing it to my attention.)

  • Went ahead and put these up in PTR. Hope you don’t mind.

I don’t understand why Hairston hasn’t taken all of Udoka’s minutes already. He looked confident last night. Pops is raw, but he has energy to spare.

Last night was the best blowout of the season, or at least it felt that way to me, because I was able to watch our kidz squad play with heart. They could all be much needed high energy guys in the playoffs.

  • George Hill also had a dunk in this quarter.

  • Latin_D,

I was thinking the same thing about the best blowout of the season. I was at the game last night and the crowd was really into the 4th quarter watching the young athletic Spurs cut into the lead. It’s been a while since I’ve left a blowout in a good mood and feeling very optimistic.

  • Pops is the window?

In all honesty - I knew our chances of winning this game were small with Tim and Manu out and Tony - I’m sure - pretty tired. Also, anyone who saw Lebron’s shameful performance the night before in Houston knew he was coming out to redeem himself. I’m just happy I got to see Pops and Malik play, I don’t live in SA so I only get a handful of games. I agree - the rest of the game was kind of hard to watch, the 4th quarter was probably the most enjoyable part.

  • Dylan,

If you’ve got a few dollars to spare, you might spring for NBA Broadband. You’ll get most of the Spurs game that way. It’s a good service and comparable to ESPN360, which is also cool.

  • [...] about Letting the Kids Play [...]

  • Dylan, you could also drop by PTR during a game thread… hint hint.

  • Ha - thanks. That might be more practical right now as I’m in-between jobs. Although NBA Broadband is on the list of things to get. Until then I’ll have to get by watching local broadcasts of Lakers and Clippers games.
