The 82nd Game

Deciphering the significance of tonight’s game has been difficult for me. Our blossoming rivalry with the New Orleans Hornets and the dictation of our playoff seed would seem to grant the game it’s fair share of meaning and consequence. But I can’t help being struck by an unexpected bout of ambivalence.

The bristling reality of the playoffs is overwhelming for me. I become anxiety personified. I need to hold off the bedlam for as long as possible. So, for tonight, I’m going to relax and relish the fact that, no matter what happens, our record tomorrow morning will be 0-0.

Enjoy the final game of the 2008-2009 regular season. And if you have a chance, check out the Toros game as well.

Go Spurs.

  • Graydon,

I too feel the anxiety but for the first time in many weeks I also feel optimism. Same thing happened this time last year, where you know that all the negative prognostications and reg season expectations go out the window. Now the pressure is even. It’s a great feeling to be the fan of such an excellent group of guys that play team ball and know how to win at this time of year. While so many others talk and pose, our guys play and advance.

I want this win tonight. Both losses to N.O. this season have been such wastes; horrible shooting and playing with little urgency yet still leading at the half and being right there at the end. It’s time to up the ante and treat this as a play-in game vs our new rival. That kind of effort and focus will not only result in a big win but perhaps one where TD plays less than 30 minutes and the good guys catch a small break (Mavs beating Rockets) to capture the division crown and high seed.

    Go Spurs Go!

  • The race to 16 wins is on. Go Spurs Go!

  • That was a great finale to our season coming to the playoffs. Great win!

  • Here comes #3 seed. Now let’s hope the Mavs are indeed a better matchup than the Blazers or the Rockets.

  • Finley and Udoka came through! Based on how they have been criticized in here lately, I was a JV jumper from going outside to see if the world was coming to an end.

We get the Mavs now. Go get them!
