Other People: Game Two Bullets
- Spurs.com has video of Pop saying that there will adjustments tonight, J.J. Barea burned them, and the Spurs need to rebound.
- LatinD, PtR: Tony’s The Man right now, and while he wasn’t chopped liver, we really need him to play at a higher level.
- Grand Prince Rob Mahoney, Two Man Game: I will say this: for as creative and intelligent as Gregg Popovich is, J.J. Barea is just as relentless and tenacious. He’s never had a reputation as a defender, but the guy loves to compete. You simply don’t make it into the league at 6′0” (in heels) unless you’ve got a little Napoleon in you.
- Straight Bangin’ has a wonderful post you’re sure to enjoy. Unless you’re a Mavs fan.
- Buck Harvey talks with an anonymous coach: “That’s an injured, lame-duck team,” he said of the Spurs.
- I’ll provide more comment on this in a future post, but the Timberwolves could hire Dennis Lindsey.
- The Spurs plan to hedge.
- Jeff McDonald wants the Spurs to clean the glass.
- Tom Ziller preaches patience, says Spurs will be Spurs.
- Tim MacMahon has me hoping for more Antoine Wright.
- In a well-supported post, MavsMoneyball says Dallas dodged a big bullet.
- Kelly Dwyer, Yahoo! Sports: For all the talk about the Spurs supposedly falling way off defensively during the regular season, let’s get real, this team was fifth in the NBA in defensive efficiency. Now, that’s down from third last season and second in the NBA when they won it all back in 2007, but that’s still a pretty stout year overall. And especially considering Duncan’s ineffectiveness on that end down the stretch, and so many of Manu Ginobili’s minutes being replaced by the hard working but ultimately step-slow Michael Finley.
- SpursDynasty: [The Spurs] gave up 21 second chance points. That’s obscene. We have to shore up our rebounding, limiting them to just one shot.
- Matt Moore sounds a lot like 48MoH. Or maybe we sound like him. He says J.J. is a pest and the Spurs don’t have the right defenders for Dirk. Too true.
- LJ Ellis, SpursTalk: With both players coming off the bench, I really think Pop should always have Bowen on the court when Terry’s on the court. Bowen can defend Terry very well. No one else on the team showed any ability to guard Terry whatsoever. It was a gargantuan drop off from Bowen to anyone else trying to defend Terry. If Bowen locks in on Terry, I think there’s a decent chance to keep the Mavs spark plug in check for much of the series. As good as everyone else is on the Mavs, Terry is the player most likely to beat the Spurs with a fourth quarter outburst. Bowen’s 24 minutes in Game 1 was a good beginning but he needs to play another ten minutes per game in this series.

Can we forward that video straight to Pops cell phone? All I kept thinking about during the game was, I wonder how Georgie would do against J.J. His defense is vital, not only agaisnt Barea, but Howard.
