Assistant G.M. Lindsey Withdraws Name From Wolves G.M. Hunt
Via ESPN:
San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Dennis Lindsey, widely billed as the Wolves’ No. 1 target, has withdrawn from consideration, according to sources with knowledge of Minnesota’s search.
I’m always happy to see former members of the Spurs’ front office and coaching staff go on to have successful careers outside of San Antonio. I have nothing but kind words for Sam Presti, Kevin Pritchard, Mike Brown, and Danny Ferry. But I’ll admit: It’s nice that at least one member of our very talented management staff has decided to stick around.
This isn’t the first time Lindsey has passed up an opportunity to take on more responsibility with another ball club. The Atlanta Hawks had their eye on him last season as well.
Lindsey has not commented on the situation, as he is currently in Berlin scouting the Euroleague Final Four which Tim previewed earlier today. For further insight into Lindsey’s opinions on international scouting, check out the post “International Scouting Trip” that he wrote for the blog he maintained while a member of the Rockets’ Front Office. (The post is about halfway down the page. HT: Canis Hoopus.)
Bring us back another diamond in the rough, Dennis.

Hopefully he withdrew his name because the Spurs still deem him a capable worker, and not a case of the Wolves didn’t think he was very talented.
Unlike Presti, who was constantly getting praise in the SA press as a wonderkid behind the scenes, I’ve never heard a peep about Dennis’ accomplishments. We’ll never know either way, but it’s odd how he works completely in the shadows.
