The Best Moments of the 08-09 Season: Mason’s “And One” to Beat the Lakers
I was sitting in a bar in Chicago with my Dad, eating some steak tacos and drinking a High Life (and by a High Life I mean the last of several). Disappointingly enough, we were the only people in the bar paying attention to what would be characterized as “the game of the year” the next day. So when I jumped out of the booth and threw my fists into the air, I accidentally captured the attention of the entire bar.
Those were heady times. With Ginobili finally back, the Spurs considered themselves a contender. Mason’s icy veins looked to be the previous season’s missing element. Mason is more charismatic than the average Spurs gunner. He is supremely confident in his shot. And when he stumbles upon the alluring combination of limited time and open space, the man’s potential for myth-making is on display. Needless to say, Mr. Mason will make another appearance during this retrospective.
In case you missed it, take a look back at the moment when Tony Parker broke Leandro Barbosa’s Ankles.
