Jerrells is definately a long shot (especially with the roster as it currently stands), but the Spurs are not deep at point. They have some guys that can bring the ball up the court, but the offense sputters without Tony.

Manu is capable, but I’d rather have the ball end up in his hands than start there. If he has to play point, it makes him less effective and easier for the other team to defend.

Mason is terrible. He will not play point this year. Williams is a versatile player, but his natural position is at the 2 spot. At best he can be Hill and George’s natural position is…the 2.

The Spurs rotation at the point is deeper than you might think, TP and Hill, Manu can play some, and yes Mason and If we include Williams (he played the point at arizona and in the D-league I believe)… So Jerrells might be a good signing for the Toros let him develop and mature first…

Jerrells is an Austin kid. Went to Del Valle HS. While playing in the NBA would be ultimate goal, must be nice to play professionally in hometown.

Jerrells was someone I thought they might pick up late in the draft. I think he has an outside shot of actually making the team since the Spurs are really only one deep at point (TP). At least, as you’ve stated, he can end up in the Spurs system with the Toros if he’s not picked up by another team.

They can probably get by with George Hill being a Nate McMillan type of point, but eventually they will need a legitimate backup since every other contender in the west is 2 deep at the point.
