Pounding the Pavement: Kens5 on PtR’s LatinD

We have great love and respect for the folks at Pounding the Rock. And right now, one of their own is on a Spurs voyage, a Rodeo Road Trip of his own, from Argentina to all over the United States.

PtR’s LatinD has gone from Argentina to San Antonio for a couple of Spurs games, to Austin where I was able to meet him and PtR’s Wayne Vore at a Toros game, to Portland for last night’s game with the Blazers. LatinD (his name is David) continues his trip this weekend from Portland down to Los Angeles for upcoming games with the Clippers and Lakers.

San Antonio news station Kens5 did a great story on David and his trip (they even interviewed our own Tim Varner), that is worthy of your time:

Menéndez is visiting the United States for three weeks to follow his favorite player and his favorite team through the eight-game Rodeo road trip.

Thursday night, he’ll be at Rose Garden to watch the Spurs play Portland. On Monday, he’ll be in L.A. to see the Spurs play the Lakers. He’ll be in Denver for Spurs-Nuggets three days later, and three days after that in Dallas for the All-Star Game.

It’s a basketball pilgrimage for Menéndez; the road trip of a lifetime.

“I knew after one year writing for PTR that I wanted to go and see Duncan and Tony and Manu while they’re still playing,” Menéndez says. “I knew I had to see them live. I had to.”

I was lucky enough to spend some time at the Toros game chatting with David and Wayne about David’s trip. David was an extremely nice guy (really, they both were) and knew his stuff. The Kens5 story is an excellent read and great for the blogger community the Spurs and the NBA have going.

Make sure to check it out.

  • David is a great. Thanks for bringing this up, it’s a great story as are all of LatinD’s posts on his trip.

  • This is super cool. Best of luck to David; hope his trip is safe and worthwhile (meaning hopefully we pull out some damn wins already).

  • You’re too nice. Thanks. It was great to meet you, and hopefully we’ll see each other again.
