Manu Ginobili ready to go for Game 4

For much of the series the Dallas Mavericks have been able to do very little defensively to stop Manu Ginobili. Hedging screens. Trapping. Denying passes. Changing matchups.

Scratch broken noses off the list of things that could possibly deter Manu Ginobili, who will start in Game 4 for the San Antonio Spurs despite suffering the injury in third quarter of last night’s 94-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

“He looks the same as last night, he’ll probably get a little black and blue as time goes on I imagine,” San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. “He’s got a little bump on his nose, which is broken. He’s going to play.”

A CT scan earlier today confirmed the nasal fracture, however, surgery will not be required at this time. It has yet to be determined whether or not Manu Ginobili will have to wear a protective mask during Sunday’s game.

“He’s not sure he wants to wear a mask, but we’re going to try and fit him and do what you do in these situations,” Popovich said. “I’m really not sure what’s going to happen in the end, but he’s going to play with it.”

Manu Ginobili was not available to the media Saturday, but Popovich expects him to be fine.

“Guys who are competitors, it’s very difficult to keep them off the court.”
