4-Down Podcast, Ep. 65: Hooray for the preseason

First of all, sorry for the unbalanced audio… Andrew’s coming in a little hot (sound-wise, you guys. Sound-wise.) but it should be bearable.

In the 66th episode of the 4-Down Podcast, we talk about the state of the Spurs’ preseason roster, what the Russell Westbrook injury means to the rest of the West and what we expect from this team at this point. Will Corey Maggette or Sam Young stick in San Antonio, or will Pop and Co. opt to leave that last spot open for whatever may come down the road?

Also, Andrew talks about his bug bites from camping and expects people to feel sorry for him or something. It’s all in here.

    I’ve come to the conclusion this morning that I don’t have a bug bite problem, though there are plenty of mosquito bites on my legs, but that I got hit with some poison ivy. Which is so much better.

    All I really know is this: Maggette is better than De Colo. Nando is, at best, completely redundant behind Marco. More realistically, Nando can’t shoot, so he then becomes like the 3rd or 4th PG. I get that keeping NDC around as a 5th or 6th guard who has some experience in the system has more insurance value than a new-comer to a the system, but he has no long-term impact value for the Spurs. Spurs fans who insist that the Spurs are committed to NDC are muddled in their thinking. I think Maggette has a chance to stick.

    Agreed. Doesn’t do anything spectacularly well. Joseph is a better defender & Mills a better shooter (and towel waver). De Colo is only injury insurance at our deepest position or a 4th string 2 guard (after Green, Manu & Marco).
