48 Minutes of Hell on “NBA Today”

I meant to post this earlier but if you get an opportunity head over to ESPN’s Podcenter and listen to the interview Tim and I did with Jason Smith on “NBA Today.” Topics we covered include: Can we beat the Lakers? How will Gooden help the team? Who don’t we want to face in the first round? Tim and I had a lot of fun doing it. If you get a chance to give it a listen we’d really appreciate it.

  • Well, Graydon, Tim, congratulations. It was a pretty interesting interview, and I’m sure it was eye-opening for fans of other teams.

But Tim, seriously, we have to work on your irrational optimism. “Winning a championship would be over-achieving”? Leave the truth to the Hollingers of this world - get in touch with your inner homer and then lie to us. Please.

Again, kudos. Hopefully this will be the first of many.

  • I haven’t listened to the interview yet, but I’m sure it’s great and will get to it soon. I’m actually posting to ask a question, though. Does anyone know of a good Jazz blog? I’ve always admired Jerry Sloan since I’ve been a competent basketball fan, plus I can’t get over how great a team they have.

  • Latin D,

Thanks for listening. I considered mentioning that, if you are a Spurs fan, the podcast might not include much “eye-opening” information. But, as you said, if you don’t follow the franchise closely, I think our answers would have been interesting.

    GMT,

Currently the TrueHoop network does not have a Jazz blog nor have I ever come across an independent Jazz blog I find particularly noteworthy. But if I do, I’ll definitely let you know.

  • MAN, you guys sound like morons. When are they going to find some Spurs bloggers who actually know what they’re talking about?

Oh, and the real reason I’m here: the podcast made it onto the sidebar of today’s Daily Dime. Congrats.

  • My favorite part was when one of you said that the seven game series against the Hornets last year was long and difficult and then you corrected yourself by noting, “Is there any other kind?” That made me laugh. I couldn’t help but think of Jack Nicholson’s retort to Tom Cruise on “A Few Good Men” about “dire danger.” Is there any other kind? Good stuff.

  • I can tell Varner isn’t a San Antonio native — those flat “A’s” scream Rust Belt.

  • Score one for Terremoto.

  • Great job on the interview, guys.

  • Hi,

Long time Spurs fan, and I just discovered your site and I really like it. You guys do a super job.

Enjoyed your interview! I think you put a good perspective on the Spurs for the sports nation.

One tip: Stay away from “at the end of the day.” Although I know it is tough to do interviews…

    K
