Done deal: Boris Diaw re-signs with Spurs

Another in the line of officially announced re-signings, Boris Diaw has made his return to the silver and black official. The team did not announce contract specifics in the press release, but leaked details have the deal at about $9 million over two years.

“Boris was a key addition to our team late last season and we are happy to have him back,” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said.  “The depth of his game and his basketball IQ make him a special player.”

It’s a good deal for the Spurs to bring back someone who fit in to the team so quickly considering the big man market and the price that a good 4 or 5 goes for these days. San Antonio is essentially getting Bobo back for almost the same price Ian Mahinmi just got paid. I call that a win.

Tying up loose ends with Patty Mills and Nando De Colo is all that remains for the Spurs. Then they will decide how to proceed with finalizing the roster after the Las Vegas Summer League and training camp in September.

Andrew, any thoughts on trying to see what D.J. Augustin would bring to the table and how much before “officially” re-signing Patty Mills?

I think he’s already headed to the Pacers, that’s what Marc Stein just tweeted.
