Los Angeles Clippers 102 FinalRecap | Box Score 96 San Antonio Spurs
Tim Duncan, PF 32 MIN | 6-9 FG | 0-2 FT | 13 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | 0 +/-
He had a great second half, scored six straight points to help the Spurs get close in the fourth. Actually would’ve liked to seen him back in earlier in the fourth. Either way, this one isn’t on him.

Kawhi Leonard, SF 40 MIN | 3-15 FG | 5-6 FT | 7 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 4 TO | 12 PTS | -19 +/-
Definitely his worst playoff performance since at least his rookie year. His defense in the fourth quarter wasn’t bad, but man he just couldn’t find the basket. Also, I’d like him to be a little less passive when Matt Barnes is on him. He can either get around or back Barnes down when he wants.

Tiago Splitter, C 28 MIN | 3-6 FG | 3-8 FT | 10 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 9 PTS | -6 +/-
So much better tonight. He was aggressive and was able to go for longer than a five minute stretch. Good sign cause they’ll need him Saturday.

Tony Parker, PG 30 MIN | 4-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 7 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 8 PTS | -17 +/-
Ugh, just get better soon.

Danny Green, SG 26 MIN | 3-9 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 7 PTS | -5 +/-
It’s not that he missed shots. That’s been happening. He took bad shots tonight, he had silly fouls, he had some stupid turnovers. If he’s not going to make shots he needs to make sure he’s contributing in other ways.

Marco Belinelli, SF 22 MIN | 7-12 FG | 2-3 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 23 PTS | +13 +/-
Guessing he’ll get a little more run Saturday night.

Matt Bonner, C 2 MIN | 0-0 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -2 +/-

Boris Diaw, C 28 MIN | 8-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 17 PTS | -1 +/-
He started off pretty passive, but really picked things up hit some buckets when it looked like the Clippers were going to create some real space.

Patty Mills, PG 18 MIN | 1-2 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 5 PTS | +11 +/-
He has to be better at finding open looks.

Manu Ginobili, SG 14 MIN | 1-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 0 TO | 3 PTS | -4 +/-
Shot wasn’t there and unlike other nights, he didn’t do other things to stay on the court.

Gregg Popovich
Ignore the grade or get in on the joke. I thought the game plan was fine overall, though I didn’t like going to Hack-A-Shaq when they were up 9. Pace was where they wanted and that just mucked it up. I did like going to it in the fourth. I think Jordan way more likely to miss all his attempts then because he’s exhausted. I also thought he stayed with Splitter too long in the second half, but in his defense any time there was a dead ball it was usually Splitter going to the line.

Two Things We Saw

  1. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have been the two most consistent and best players in this series. Kawhi’s been mostly great, so has Tim, but the bench has to show up to win Game 7.
  2. Don’t worry, Game 7 is at 7 pm Central time Saturday, which means it shouldn’t interfere with Pacquiao-Mayweather.

I’m not talking about infinity, I’m talking about the direct related outcome. Either just the time they are hacking, or from the time they started hacking, continuing with when DJ goes to the bench, which you consider “success” however not one time in the series did it help, not one time did it make a positive impact for the Spurs, not one time did it work. Even Pop admitted in his postgame that there was “no horseplay” between the two teams, “aside from fouling DJ”. It’s not real basketball, it’s cowardly tactics, hopefully the league does something about it in the offseason.
