San Antonio Spurs 114 Final
Recap | Box Score
103 Milwaukee Bucks
Tim Duncan, PF 34 MIN | 9-16 FG | 1-2 FT | 5 REB | 7 AST | 1 STL | 3 BLK | 1 TO | 19 PTS | +7 +/-

Tim Duncan is invincible. I don’t remember the last time he sat out the second night of a back-to-back, and he played like that? Wait, he took two 3s? I’m giving him an F-ahhhh I’m just playing. You guys really took that seriously last week.

Kawhi Leonard, SF 27 MIN | 3-8 FG | 6-8 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 4 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | +6 +/-

Had four steals in 27 minutes. That’s amazing. Whenever he has a rough game, folks scream about his value as a max player. That’s crazy. He changes games on that side of the ball. Couple that with his recent tendency for scoring 20-plus points and you have the makings of a superstar.

Tiago Splitter, C 19 MIN | 2-2 FG | 2-5 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK | 2 TO | 6 PTS | +4 +/-

Still not all the way back, but he’s been solid. Starting to weigh options: How serious have his injuries been, anyway? Players have mentioned them, so it’s got to be a thing. But he seems to be healthy enough now.

Tony Parker, PG 27 MIN | 6-7 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 15 PTS | +11 +/-

Good Tony Parker on a night he could’ve used some rest. Though, all things considered, his line wasn’t that bad.

Danny Green, SG 39 MIN | 7-16 FG | 4-4 FT | 8 REB | 4 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 20 PTS | +12 +/-

He’s found himself recently. That’s quite a good sign. When Danny’s going right, this offense takes on a different identity

Jeff Ayres, PF 6 MIN | 1-1 FG | 2-4 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 4 PTS | +2 +/-

Meh.

Kyle Anderson, SF 1 MIN | 0-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -3 +/-

mmmm.

Reggie Williams, SF 7 MIN | 2-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | 0 +/-

Layups.

Marco Belinelli, SF 24 MIN | 2-9 FG | 5-5 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 11 PTS | +5 +/-

That late sequence with Jarryd Bayless was really weird. And I’m glad Marco put his nose in there. Marco has his moments, but I think the majority of Spurs fans want better. Those folks can break off in their own direction. He’ll probably be ran

Matt Bonner, C 3 MIN | 0-0 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | +2 +/-

Matty, contributing nothing much. He’ll still pay off. He always does.

Boris Diaw, C 31 MIN | 5-8 FG | 8-8 FT | 6 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 18 PTS | +9 +/-

I saw some flashes of old Bobo in thisi one. Diaw was quite good, let’s see if it carries over.

Patty Mills, PG 16 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 3 PTS | +12 +/-

He’s got to play better. Patty has been playing ‘distributor’ a bit more recently, and that’ a good thing in terms of his overall improvement, But that’s not where his bread is buttered. He’s gotta get that shot back.

Cory Joseph, PG 5 MIN | 0-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -12 +/-

Whoa, five minutes? This is all an unfortunate. Nothing to see here.

Gregg Popovich

Managed minutes and rotations well… and what else is new?

  • Spurs fan in Australia

    Has the sky stopped falling?

  • thedrwolff

Everyone gets an F….because last night was the Knicks AND derick friggin Fisher. All illusions will be dispelled one way or the other very soon starting with Atlanta then Houstons and OKC’s and Dalases and golden states…that stretch is only 8 days away. Things have gotten so bad that Duncan has now decided he needs to shoulder the 3 point shooting load as well. Unveiling our secret weapon a bit soon don’t you think?

  • Graham

    Never will for some fans.

  • Dapimp Ofdayear

LOL a win against a mediocre Milwaukee team a night after getting embarassed doesn’t necessarily mean all is right in Spurs world. Get back to me after the upcoming brutal five game stretch.

  • Ryan McShane

I guess Gregg Popovich wasn’t worried about his team when he called his players pathetic last night!

  • wannabe_fake_tough_guy

OK, I’m still not done talking about the Knicks game… #LOL

  • brunostrange

Good win. A nice response to being embarrassed by the Knicks the previous night. Very focused performance all around.

I do think Tiago deserves a higher grade - his line may not be impressive, but I thought he was a beast on defense. Dude’s been playing very well as of late.

A little concerned about Kawhi. He’s been timid since he missed the last two FT’s against CLE. Dude needs to snap out of it.

  • Comrade747

I’ll take this split any day. Or shall I say..”Daye”

  • TD BestEVER

I love how some people think that a win on Wednsday takes away a loss on Tuesday……it’s an 82 game schedule……every game counts in a close race that will be decided by 1 or 2 games at most!!!

  • Graham

Exactly, one bad loss doesn’t necessarily mean all is wrong in spurs world. Get back to me after the upcoming 5 game stretch.

  • Graham

Very true, every team has those losses. It’s fine to be frustrated and annoyed with the team for that Los, but calling the season over is a bit melodramatic.

  • Suave Groove

Nice bouncing back double digit win vs the 2nd best defense in the League! 8-2 in the last 10.

Next game tomorrow vs Celtics @8:30pm EST!

  • DorieStreet

Yes….. 8-2 in the last 10, but those two VERY WINNABLE losses are why the Spurs are still in 7th place. Yeah, there only 3 games back of the 3rd spot—but how long have fans been saying that the team is close to moving up—-two, two and a half months now? The losing December and mediocre (6-5) February kept the Spurs behind—even when LAC & POR went through 5-6 each in February. (Despite many of us disrespecting/disparaging HOU-that team has not lost more than TWO IN A ROW THUS FAR THIS SEASON. Don’t expect any of the team to collapse—so the Spurs have to put up a 9-1/ 10-0 run sometime during the last 15 games to move up—AND STAY IN — 4th / 3rd place.

  • Tyler

I would rather stay in the 3-6 or 2-7 side of the bracket, away from GS/OKC….I don’t fear Memphis or Houston. In fact, our point differential - a much better predictor of playoff success (much better than win/loss record) - is a full point better than either (4.4 vs 3.4).

  • Suave Groove

    Eh, Ok.

  • Suave Groove

I think when healthy, Houston (T. Jones/D.Howard) and OKC (Ibaka/Durant) are our worst matchups. Terrence is a good player but when he play the Spurs he’s on another level. The dude’s a BEAST against us.

    1) Portland
    2) Memphis
    3) Golden State

    Would be my optimal matchups.

  • Tyler

I would say GS is the worst matchup simply b/c they’re the best team. Also, you can’t hide TP on anyone in their starting unit. They’ll go at TP in the post if he guards Thompson, Barnes, Iggy, etc. That’s a rough series for him.
