Minnesota Timberwolves 110 FinalRecap | Box Score 117 San Antonio Spurs
Tim Duncan, PF 35 MIN | 5-11 FG | 2-2 FT | 14 REB | 8 AST | 2 STL | 3 BLK | 2 TO | 12 PTS | -2
Struggled a little bit with Pekovic’s size, so he decided to distribute. Nice job protecting the paint too.
Jeff Ayres, PF 20 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 8 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | -6
Nice hustle but he might’ve been a little overmatched by Kevin Love (42 points, 14 rebounds). Hurry back Tiago!
Kawhi Leonard, SF 34 MIN | 8-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 6 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 19 PTS | -5
He was everywhere and kept the Spurs in it in the 3rd quarter. The only reason he doesn’t get the A+ is because Kevin Love is an outlet pass God.
Tony Parker, PG 36 MIN | 13-24 FG | 1-1 FT | 3 REB | 6 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 4 TO | 29 PTS | -3
It felt like every time a bucket was needed in the fourth, Parker was there. Sensational, especially with a longer, crafty Rubio on him.
Danny Green, SG 11 MIN | 0-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 0 PTS | -12
He wasn’t awesome, but he also made life a little difficult on the Minnesota guards in the half court when he was in.
Matt Bonner, PF 8 MIN | 2-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 5 PTS | +10
Hit some big shots at the end of the second quarter. Also can’t guard Kevin Love.
Boris Diaw, PF 29 MIN | 6-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | +11
Seemed to get his rhythm back after a couple of bad games. When he’s aggressive the Spurs are good. Even did a nice job on Love in the 4th.
Cory Joseph, PG 5 MIN | 1-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | +3
Limited minutes, maximum effort. Had a gorgeous cut to the basket for a big third quarter score.
Patty Mills, PG 7 MIN | 1-2 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | +7
Aside from a steal and score I barely noticed when he was on the court.
Manu Ginobili, SG 25 MIN | 6-10 FG | 6-8 FT | 4 REB | 9 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 20 PTS | +27
#ManuFor6MOY That is all.
Marco Belinelli, SG 28 MIN | 5-9 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | +5
The Robin to Manu’s bench Batman. Never play them apart. Ever.
Malcolm Thomas, PF DNP COACH’S DECISION MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS |
See below.
Nando de Colo, PG DNP COACH’S DECISION MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS |
Whatever.
Gregg Popovich
Would’ve liked some more yelling.

Three Things We Saw

  1. Kevin Love is insane. I don’t know who is better, Love or LaMarcus Aldridge, but they are both nightmares to defend. I had way too much watching him shoot tonight.
  2. This probably deserves more words, but Manu Ginobili has been brilliant lately. He’s making everyone better and tonight did some Manu stuff circa 2005-2009.
  3. The Spurs are probably already on their way to Salt Lake City for Saturday’s game against the Jazz. We may see Tiago Splitter and Aron Baynes, but I’m pretty confident we’ll see Malcolm Thomas. And we might not see Tim Duncan.
