Forbes: Spurs are Team of the Decade

by

Via Forbes.com:

After a 1999 NBA championship, San Antonio has gone on to win more than 70% of its games since 2000, while capturing three more titles. Financially, the club’s value has grown 146% since then to $415 million, helped along by a move into the lucrative AT&T Center in 2002.

Their criteria included not only on-court success but also financial valuation growth (it is Forbes). Frontrunners included the Detroit Red Wings, who won two Stanley Cups this decade, and the Dallas Mavericks, who have seen their valuation triple.

Pretty cool to see the slow start not affect the rankings.

At the same time, Forbes has some of the most stupid and genuinely indefensible “Top” lists I’ve ever read. Just saying — I’ve dismissed plenty of arguments using a Forbes list before, so it’s only fair to do so on both sides of the coin.

I agree with Randall. It’s good to see the Spurs get this recognition, but Forbes also listed Kevin McHale as the top GM a couple of years ago.

It’s about time someone gave the Spurs this recognition! All anyone ever looks at are the Lakers and Celtics! Thank you Mr. Forbes for finally putting some spotlight on the Spurs!

I love the Spurs. I bleed black and silver. I’m glad Forbes got this right. Go Spurs Go!
