Kawhi Leonard out 10-14 days with left leg injury
The Spurs announced on Friday that Kawhi Leonard will be out for 10-14 days with what the team describes as “quadriceps tendonitis” in his left leg. Leonard will not travel with the team when it begins its upcoming road trip in Boston on November 21. Leonard had an MRI that confirmed the injury.
Leonard was in the locker room after last night’s 104-100 loss to the New York Knicks with his knees heavily wrapped in ice. This will be a bit of a blow for the Spurs, as Leonard was one of the few consistent performers for the team in this early season. His defensive pressure helped a Spurs defense that hadn’t forced a lot of turnovers last season.
That said, San Antonio has a good medical staff and there’s a history of Spurs returning early from injury. I wouldn’t expect him to be out longer than the two week estimate.
