Let’s hope Tony Parker learns to throw an alley-oop, and that Coach Popovich doesn’t bench him for it.

I’m so glad the Spurs now have guys who you know, like to dunk.

his ability to get to the rim in one dribble from three point land could be huge when the ball is swung around the horn on a duncan double team.

Just disgusting athleticism. And he can shoot the ball from distance. But, he doesn’t play like a traditional big at all. Maybe the people talking about him playing SF aren’t crazy after all.

I can’t wait till we can get a glimpse of him in preseason, hell even practice footage would be sweet. Time will tell…

As a weakside shot blocker, he shows a good ability (in the handful of clips I’ve seen) to avoid body contact while getting clean blocks.

After watching him play in Euroleague I really was surprised when I first heard some people talk about him as a Power F / center for the Spurs.
He was more comparable to a Sean Marion type of big. A lot of facing the rim, quick, long, and able to shoot and help on D.
That said, it could be because of Malaga’s style of play. Maybe he can be more of a traditionnal power if asked to.

Bench Haislip and Parker for any risky show dunk.

I really hope Haislip gets a chance to earn minutes. Athletically he can hold his own with anyone in the NBA, hopefully he catches on to the system early.

It would be beneficial to him if he can play the three in certain match-ups. Otherwise, he lacks the bulk to play the five and would therefore be caught up in a numbers game at the four.
The way I see it, if he shows he can shoot the 3 at a respectable-solid percentage, then he should immediately pass Bonner on the depth chart as the shooting big/stretch four. His athleticism, length and overall skill level are clearly far superior to Bonner.
Generally, Pop would stick with the veteran who knows the system, but I’m not sure the Spurs have ever been sold on Bonner. He played mostly by default last year and because he was, at least until the stretch run, shooting the lights out from near and far.
If Haislip or Mahinmi are legit rotation players, the Spurs ultimate potential as a team goes up another notch.

Marcus Haislip 6-10 230
Lamar Odom 6-10 230
Rashard Lewis 6-10 225
Lebron James 6-8 250
I believe with his speed, he will also be able to keep up with the VC and Dirk’s of the league.

While in good jest, Tony can actually throw a mean ally.
Here’s a half court one…. to Chris Paul. Never thought I’d type that.

Here’s to hoping Haislip brings this stuff to the Spurs, however unnecessary it may be.

The man dunked on Tiago Splitter

I’m just thinking of him as a descent defender with the likes of Dirk, Odom, and Lewis and now this…. This coming season got to be great!
September 1st, 2009 at 8:41 pm
right with robby, this might turn out to be a descent season after all.

is it too early to hope for a Spur to FINALLY both enter and win the dunk contest?
September 1st, 2009 at 10:50 pm
SpursfanSteve,
It will be nice to see a Spur winning a slam dunk contest… But I’m hoping for the better… title #5 in 2009-2010 season! Cheers!
And guys if you have time please check out My Blog and tell me what you think it’s still new so I’m still trying to improve on things…. Thanks!

With his athleticism he is probably half of what david robinson was. Maybe not even half…
