Match-Up of the Night: Parker vs. Ellis

I always enjoy playing the Warriors, partly because Nelson practices such a chaotic style of ball, partly because I am confident the Spurs have the discipline to not give in to the allure of that style. This game could be a bit of a trap game, though. We have just come off of a tough stretch and a particularly fulfilling victory over the Hornets. This is the first game of the rodeo trip and therefore we are likely to be focused but if it weren’t such a definable moment this would be the kind of game where the Spurs play with a lack of intensity and allow a team we are better than to hang around.

As far as the individual match-ups go, I’ve got my eye on Tony Parker and Monta Ellis. I am not that interested in what Parker will do on the offensive end of the floor (I am sure he will score freely against a porous Golden State defense) but more so on how he handles Ellis defensively. Ellis recently returned from the injury he sustained during an unfortunate moped accident, and although he hasn’t shown the quickness which made him such a threat last season, he has still provided a burst of energy for a team that has looked pretty listless at various points this season. I’m really intrigued see how Parker handles a score-first point guard whose style and pace are so similar to his own. The game starts at 10:30 Eastern/9:30 Central.

  • George Hill has said several times that he mirrors his game in Monta. It’ll the the hell of a learning experience for him tonight (Hopefully).
