Medical Update on Oberto
Via Spurs.com:
San Antonio Spurs forward/center Fabricio Oberto underwent a successful Ablation procedure on 6/4. The procedure was done to correct the electrical system of the heart that was sending Oberto into Atrial Fibrillation. Oberto’s procedure was performed in Austin by Dr. Andrea Natale.
One week following his procedure Oberto will start a gradual, conservative cardiovascular exercise program. After four weeks and with his doctor’s approval, he may begin strenuous exercise.
I’m glad to hear Oberto is doing well. You never want to see a player miss court time because of medical complications like this. I look forward to seeing him back on the floor next season.

Honestly, I felt Fab Oberto’s passing, positioning and “tap-back” rebounds were sorely missed this past season.

Area Man:
Couldn’t agree with you more. I went back recently and looked at our ’07 finals triumph over the Cavs. Fab was CENTRAL to that sweep, even though his stat line was modest at best. He’s a helluva lot better player than normally given credit for. He simply doesn’t make mistakes. Sadly, the organization may see fit to unload him this summer. Whatever happens, Fab, some of us appreciate all you’ve given the Spurs and San Antonio.
