Monday playoff updates on NBA 411

Some updates from around the NBA and a little talk from me about the Spurs’ history of losing Game 1’s.

If the Spurs win the next four then this should be the “gentleman’s sweep,” since the Spurs seem to always drop their first game and the Spurs should be considered the gentlemen.

    Good video commentary Andrew McNeil.

Something interesting: Pop put Manu against Suns in a useless game, against Grizziles Ginobili was ABLE to play and Pop chose rest him.

    Hope Pop stop tanking games.
No one can be champions with Bonner playing more than 10 minutes per game. Period

Good one @idahospur but I really feel like the Grizzlies matchup well with the Spurs. I’m hoping they can take the next two games and finish the series in six. If they can make it four straight the better.

Andrew, all the game 1 discussion aside, do we have an update regarding Manu’s health? That ultimately seems to be the answer Spurs fans are seeking.

I can understand why Manu was kept out of game 1. He might have been able to play, but the risk of reinjury was too great. If he had reinjured the elbow, he’d be out for a much longer period. I think the Spurs can beat the Grizz without him, and almost did. I’m a little disappointed that Hill did not rise to the occasion, but I have confidence he will learn from the experience and deliver the next time he’s called upon. A couple of shots that didn’t go in for the spurs and one that did go in for the bad news bears did. If RJ’s last shot had fallen, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Two more grizzlies would have fouled out in the first minute of overtime and the Spurs would have won going away.

Hopefully, Manu has been practicing with a protective sleeve for the elbow, and he’s comfortable shooting with it. I’d say the time is now.

I’m over ambitious. Six games looks to be a good estimate if Grizzlies play like they did on Sunday. Get Manu back and find ways to slow Gasol/Randolph.
