Pregaming: Spurs vs. Celtics
AT&T CENTER — The Spurs are back in San Antonio (ONE NIGHT ONLY, FOLKS) to face the Celtics, looking to avoid a three-game slide. They’ll have to do it yet again without Stephen Jackson and Kawhi Leonard, both of whom will sit out again with injury.
- Jack and Leonard will both miss Saturday night’s game against the Celtics, but the pair are close to a return. We could see one or both in uniform tonight, but neither will see any action according to Gregg Popovich.
- Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was very complimentary of the start Tim Duncan had to the season, citing Duncan’s competitiveness as a major factor in his performance. “He’s competitive, I really believe it’s that simple,” Doc said. “He doesn’t get enough of that credit [for his competitive nature] because he has a poker face.”
- Rivers also said that Paul Pierce won’t play heavy minutes against the Spurs. Piece played almost 41 minutes in Boston’s loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night. “Paul played too many minutes, we’ll cut his minutes tonight.”
