Pregaming: Spurs vs. Kings

by

AT&T CENTER — I’m over my sickness and back at the AT&T Center for tonight’s game pitting the Spurs against the Sacramento Kings.

  • Gary Neal (tightness in left calf), Stephen Jackson (sprained right ankle) and Boris Diaw (lower back strain) are all out tonight for the Spurs. According to Gregg Popovich, Diaw will be out “for a couple of games, for sure.”
  • To combat the lack of forces for the Spurs, Cory Joseph was called up from the Austin Toros and Aron Baynes came back after a one-game assignment in the D-League. Baynes hadn’t received a lot of playing time with the Spurs lately, so the team decided to get him some playing time in Austin. “They had a game [on Thursday night] and we didn’t have anything going on and he hadn’t been playing,” Pop said. “He hasn’t had a chance to get out there much, so playing in Austin once in a while is good for him.” Baynes had 16 points and nine rebounds in a 97-95 win for the Toros over the Iowa Energy.

I like that Spurs are taking these past two losses pretty hard.

The biggest bit of drama so far in this first half is if Aron Baynes will make it on the floor before halftime or not.

How is Cory Joseph looking? And how much of a better player is Blair when paired with Ginobili?

Awesome Manu Ginobili in the first half: 7 minutes, 7 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, moved well without the ball. Maybe the best stretch of Manu we’ve seen this season. Still missed free throws, though (1-for-3).

Joseph has been solid in his first NBA minutes in a while. Blair is still a ways ahead with Manu on the floor than with Ginobili off.

PARKER ANKLE INJURY?!?!?! He landed on Isiah. Hopefully he’ll be back soon.

Looking at the stats (game isn’t on tv in australia) Splitter looks to be playing really well. Is he more active or better Spurs ball movement and spacing? When you expecting to see Baynes in the game? Entire 4th quarter?
