Pregaming: Spurs vs. Nuggets

AT&T Center — The Spurs aim to rebound from the disappointing loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday night. Here are some notes from pregame including some key players’ availability:

  • Kawhi Leonard is out with quadriceps tendonitis in his left leg and Stephen Jackson will place him in the starting lineup. Leonard is expected to miss 10-14 days. According to Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, Leonard has been playing through pain all season, so the team decided to sit him out to rest the injury and prevent any worse injuries from developing.
  • Gary Neal, who missed Thursday’s game against the Knicks with a cut on his right index finger (his shooting hand), will miss his second straight game against the Nuggets. According to Pop, the cut keeps re-opening when he tries to play with it, so they’re just going to shut him down until it closes up properly.
  • Wilson Chandler (hip) and Anthony Randolph (ankle) are out for Denver.
  • We forgot to ask who will start at power forward tonight, so your guess is as good as mine. Considering Denver can throw out lineups using two centers, Tiago Splitter should figure plenty into tonight’s contest even if he doesn’t start. Likewise, we might not see a lot of DeJuan Blair against the Nuggets.
