Pregaming: Spurs vs. Rockets Preseason

by

First game of the year in the AT&T Center and thus, our first pregame notes. Not too much to report on today, as things are still in early season form.

  • DeJuan Blair’s free throw form is greatly improved. He still hasn’t mastered it, but it is much more fluid than it has been. He’s giving the ball a greater chance at going into the hoop with his new form, which is what you’re looking for at this point.
  • Spurs assistant coach Chip Engellend had some killer shoes on during pregame for you sneaker heads out there. Chip had some black low top Nike Air Force Ones with red laces and a gum bottom. They stood out nicely.
  • Tiago Splitter looks like he put on a bit of muscle. Dwight Howard he is not, but he does appear a bit bulkier than he was last season.
  • Tim Duncan’s practice shorts are an abomination. Duncan came out in a pair of shorts that had one leg that was black on the front and silver on the back, with three black stripes on the side, a white square near the waist and a black square with the Spur logo on it. The other leg was black with a narrow silver stripe down the side. I hope there’s a story behind them and it’s not simple team-issue Adidas gear. I shall henceforth refer to them as Tim’s Dr. Frankenshorts.

    My observations:

    1. Was it me, or does it seem the team is giving serious thoughts about Gani? The dude played alot of minutes tonight!

    2. Williams had a pretty good night slammin the ball over our defense. I hope we fix that hole.

    3. TJ did pretty well. He seems a much better backup than Quinn.

    4. I didnt see much of KL tonight. JA however was more visible.

    5. The 3 amigos carried the weight of the team, as usual. That’s not a good sign. We need the 2nd unit to step up.

    6. I wonder why Bonner was sitting out. Pop’s testdrive of his 2nd unit perhaps?
