El Conclusion: San Antonio Spurs 122, Cleveland Cavaliers 101

by

San Antonio Spurs 122 Final
Recap | Box Score
101 Cleveland Cavaliers
Tim Duncan, PF 26 MIN | 2-5 FG | 3-4 FT | 8 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 3 BLK | 0 TO | 7 PTS | +5

There’s nothing Old Man Duncan likes more than to win comfortably and play less than 30 minutes. Well, that and sitting on the porch whittling. Old Man Duncan sure loves his whittlin’, I tell you.

Kawhi Leonard, SF 26 MIN | 7-10 FG | 2-2 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 4 STL | 3 BLK | 3 TO | 18 PTS | +18

Went head to head with Luol Deng and won, sizably. Leonard missed his first three shots of the night and proceed to drain his next seven, including both of his 3-point attempts. Meanwhile, he played defense (four steals) and rebounded (five of them). He’s good, it’s nice to see him back.

Tiago Splitter, C 21 MIN | 0-4 FG | 6-6 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 6 PTS | +11

Honestly, I don’t have much to say about Splitter’s game. The Cavs big men aren’t great, so there wasn’t a lot required of Splitter. He hit all six of his free throws, which is incredible. He missed all four of his field goal attempts, which isn’t quite incredible, but it’s peculiar.

Tony Parker, PG 22 MIN | 3-11 FG | 1-2 FT | 1 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 7 PTS | -6

On Sunday night, Tony Parker played great in his first game back, but he was missing that burst. On Tuesday night, the Spurs didn’t need a lot from Parker, but he finally showed that gear that he can reach and others can’t. I’d say he’s good to go.

Danny Green, SG 23 MIN | 9-15 FG | 3-3 FT | 1 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 24 PTS | +14

Hey there, Icy Hot.

Aron Baynes, PF 6 MIN | 1-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | -5

Six minutes of garbage time action, not much to say.

Matt Bonner, PF 10 MIN | 1-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | +2

Ditto. One thing I did realize in this game is that if Matt Bonner—or really any basketball player for that matter, I just thought about it when I saw Bonner do this—starts a cooking show, it should be called “Penetrate & Dish.” Please make all royalty checks out to 48 Minutes of Hell LLC.

Boris Diaw, PF 25 MIN | 7-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK | 1 TO | 16 PTS | +21

Scorin’ Contract Year Boris (we’re going to condense nicknames for the sake of efficiency) was out on the prowl tonight. Bobo looked good against a Cavs front line that didn’t exactly feature a defensive stalwart.

Jeff Ayres, C 10 MIN | 0-0 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 2 TO | 0 PTS | +9

Yeah, I got nothing.

Patty Mills, PG 24 MIN | 6-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 16 PTS | +24

#PattyMillsShotCount: 12… Nice to see that the Rodeo Road Trip continues in spirit.

Cory Joseph, PG 6 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | -5

Yeah, nothing.

Manu Ginobili, SG 21 MIN | 3-5 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 6 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 11 PTS | +1

Six assists off the bench, 3-for-5 from 3. Ginobili is just special.

Marco Belinelli, SG 19 MIN | 3-8 FG | 5-5 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 11 PTS | +16

Nothing outstanding, nothing bad from Marco. Just one of those games where he wasn’t a focal point.

Two Things We Saw

  1. I know it was garbage time, and I am aware of the stinker of a season he’s had, but I like some of the things I saw from Anthony Bennett at the end of this game. There’s some talent there if it can be molded.
  2. Chip Engelland’s pre-game jacket. One at a time, ladies.
  • I need more cowbell

Less shots for Manu and more for Patty makes me happy.

I know this looks self promotion but this Spurs “Swag” design isn’t mine and is really awesomee, http://skreened.com/becauseofcourse/san-antonio-spurs-swag

Went to my first NBA game tonight. Thankfully the Spurs picked it up, 13 points in the 1st left me worried. Watching Bois and Patty do their thing was just beautiful ñ the Cav fans were beside themselves. Nice to see Mike Brown have some emotion when got a tech. Favorite part of the night? Pop calling a timeout at the end of the game.
