I’ll tell you what happened. I get home turn on the TV and they’re already at the half and Tiago has a double double? Then I get all comfy in my recliner with my dinner and start to see what appears to be a rotation on the floor as if we are up 30 points and no Tiago the whole 3rd quarter and then some just to see that last place team catch up and embarrass those Spurs of mine. Wow what in tarnation is Pop thinking a little too late for experimenting with the rotations. On a night where Tiago was looking to go 20 and 15 but cut him short. Little too late in the 4th quarter there Pop. I’ve been saying it since Splitter got here he plays huge minutes and he will deliver. What is wrong with you Pop? I Know I Know you won 5 championships and you have Carte Blanche to do whatever you feel like on a itch but man really that rotation being up only 5 points and that long. You deserve to lose if your going to keep doing that. I don’t know what that psychology is supposed to do to your players but be a little realistic and get the job done on a bad team. No excuses.

I only have one thing to say about SA tonight.
EEEEEWWWWWWWWWW

After cleveland I recapped that it scares me about Kawi and the Chris Webber gene. After the TWO missed ft’s down the stretch, the missed jumper at the wire, and that FLUB on the last REAL possession…it’s official. Deer in the headlights vs Lion guarding it’s kill. I expect to see a time out with none left. Cmon man, Go to the happy place when shooting clutch throws and MAKE a game winning shot…that I haven’t seen despite being on the floor at the end of ALL close games you are in since 2 years ago in cleveland on a corner 3. Dude…please…show me I’m wrong. Mills is just not here and when Green has a bad night from 3 we have a VERY hard time winning. This roller coaster ride is killing me. I completely lost faith tonight. That was the last straw when we look so GOOD for a stretch and STILL can’t win close games. If we arent ahead by more then 10 going into the lat 2 minutes we lose. 1-6 in OT isn’t an aberration. It’s a failure of having a go to one on one guy who gets open on his own shake and bake or goes to the line and MAKES. it’s that simple. We shot outstanding from the line tonight….till the final 2 minutes and OT. I have to go puke now.

Back into the7th spot in the west standings. Spurs must like it there.

Tiago was the only starter who didn’t play more than 30 minutes. Our 38 year old PF played 34!! What. The. Hell. Tiago was CRUSHING tonight. The only thing that could stop him is the guy who has been stopping him all year. Anyone else notice that Tony SUDDENLY started kicking ass when his screen setting, floor spacing Brazilian was (begrudgingly) re-added to the starting lineup? This loss is 100% on Pop and eff him for blaming it on a “pathetic” performance. He screwed us in this one. Period.
Graham
right……..cause pop really lacked energy out there and drifted through the game. Considering he’s probably ripping those guys a new one right now for their ‘Pathetic’, to quote his own words, play I’m not sure exactly what you want from him.
Then again I suppose you are the one saying our lord and savior Tiago is always the answer.
RawJa
I want him to realize that our Brazilian center HAS the energy. Our offense is rolling when he’s on the court. Our defense is rolling when he’s on the court. Tim is 38 and SLOW. Don’t pull the guy who is helping our team win. Tiago WAS the answer tonight and if you don’t think so, check the effing stats bruh.
RawJa
It’s not rocket science. Don’t pull the dude who has a double double at half time after three minutes in the third. Don’t pull the guy who is leading your team in +/- for the final defensive play of the game. Don’t pull the guy who has the fewest minutes of all the starters for overtime. Don’t pull the guy whose replacement is providing nothing when he is CLEARLY fresh. What’s difficult here? Pop effed up tonight.
Graham
I’m sorry, but I’ve never been big on armchair coaching. We know nothing about what’s happening on the bench. Did Tiago’s calf start cramping and pop pull him as a precaution when the rest of the team clearly didn’t bring it tonight? We aren’t on the bench, we have zero clue. How about we trust that the best coach alive knows what he’s doing. Our are you saying you’d rather have Mike dantoni? Or good forbid randy Wittman?
Spurs Fan
As he does every year, Pop turned to his bench and expected them to perform. Looks like it didn’t happen. Looks like we got bored Boris last night. When he’s engaged, he’s good. When he’s not, he’s worse than bad.
DorieStreet
Well, 66 games into this season, “bored Boris” has shown up in 44 of them (two-thirds of the time).

I don’t buy the argument that Popovich should be above reproach. I agree with your earlier point about this loss being mainly on the players - they played with no effort, and they did that timid thing they do in close games (which is a bad omen for the playoffs). But Pop made some boneheaded moves. Playing iso-ball for the last five minutes of the game? Against a team so deficient at playing interior defense that we were basically scoring at will off the motion offense and PnR’s in the first half? Is March really the best time to continue the Kawhi hero-ball experiment? Especially when fighting for a playoff seed? I’ll concede that we don’t know what’s going on in the bench, re: Tiago, but provided there’s no health scare (and there doesn’t appear to be), it’s puzzling to sit the only guy playing with A+ effort for the majority of the second half. Pop said after the game that the players didn’t “respect the game or their opponent.” That applies to him too in this instance.
