Spurs ticket giveaway: Section 128, Row 18, Seats 11, 12

by

The good people at StubHub have provided us with two tickets to giveaway to our readers. But first a few ground rules.

The tickets are for tomorrow’s night’s home game against the Kings. If you can’t make the game, please don’t claim the tickets. Second, if you go to games often, considering letting the tickets go to someone who attends games less regularly, or not at all. That is to say, sit this one out. Kindness and all.

First person to answer the following trivia question gets the tickets. Leave your answers in the comment thread.

Which man has Gregg Popovich served under as an assistant coach and had as a member of his coaching staff?

  • Jonathan

I know the answer, but can’t go to the game…

  • http://passthemsticks.com Batmanu

I know it, too, but I don’t even live in TX anymore. =(

  • Roger

    Hank Egan

  • Samer Salama

I believe the answer is Hank Egan.

  • robyfromitaly

I also know it, but from italy is not so easy to make the game…

  • Rick Ashford

    Hank Egan, wasn’t it?

  • Caleb

    Hank Egan.

  • http://www.48minutesofhell.com Timothy Varner

Rick, Just sent you an email.

  • Rick Ashford

If I’m right, I’ve only been able to make 2 games this year, and I can be there tomorrow.

    *Fingers crossed*

  • http://www.48minutesofhell.com Timothy Varner

    Rick,

You’re a winner. Check your email. I’ll send you the tickets, confirmation number and gate instructions.

  • Roger

Cool! Thanks Mr. Varner, but the name is Roger.

  • Chris

According to the time stamp, Roger was the first to answer correctly.

  • ITGuy

    Go Roger!!

  • MSteele

I could have arranged flights from Ireland for tomorrows game lol haha but seriously I feel bad for Roger

  • MSteele

By the way that’s a really nice gesture from you guys. Well done 48 minutes

  • Roger

I guess I should have crossed my fingers.

  • austinspur

what about roger or samer salama, they beat rick. ….Hang Eagen.. please?

  • Rick Ashford

For whatever reason, my comment showed up on the site before theirs did. When I posted mine, the only other comment showing on the site was Jonathan’s.

I’m not sure what happened there, but that’s why Tim called it that way.

  • http://passthemsticks.com Batmanu

The comments have to be approved before they show, if I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t explain the timestamps, though.

  • http://www.bpifanconnect.com Alix Babaie

Wow, a super great gesture but controversy resides over who is the true winner. 😉

  • Jacques

Row 18? Wow I never been that close to the court before … congrats thoo :)

  • http://www.48minutesofhell.com Timothy Varner

Roger, sent you an email. FYI.

  • Henry

    Hank Egan

  • Pittsburgh Spurs Fan

For my own education (and since I don’t feel like using google) when and where did Pop serve under Hank? And is Mr. Egan still on staff?

    Thanks.

  • este

    @Pittsburgh Spurs Fan

I’m too lazy to confirm this but I believe he served under Egan At the Air Force Academy. And no Hank Egan is not on the current staff as far as I know.

  • Rick Ashford

He worked under Hank at the Air Force Academy, if memory servers, and then worked with us for a couple of years before going to Cleveland with Mike Brown.

    It’s on Pop’s Wikipedia page

  • TheRed&Black

Y’all are awesome for doing something like this!

  • http://www.48minutesofhell.com Timothy Varner

Thank StubHub. Not possible without them. It’s really their promotional. We’re just conduit.

  • http://www.bpifanconnect.com Alix Babaie

Hey Tim, any chance you do this again in the future? Perhaps even for the playoffs?

  • http://www.48minutesofhell.com Timothy Varner

    Everyone:

    1) First, big kudos to StubHub for their donation of the tickets. Super cool, right?
    2) Rick, who is a saint, has kindly offered his tickets to Roger, who, if not for my blunder, was the first person to respond with a correct answer. Thanks, Rick.
    3) I’m not sure if we’ll do this again the future, but I suspect we will.

  • mikrobass3

it seems as though one’s first few posts with particular credentials will be moderated. the timestamp will show the initial timing and sorting of the post, but the post will not appear to all site viewers until it has been approved.

after a few posts have been approved, later posts from those same credentials post immediately.

    maybe i’m wrong.

  • Roger

Thanks Rick and Mr. Varner, will enjoy!!

  • http://www.bpifanconnect.com Alix Babaie

Tim, that is most righteous of you guys and of StubHub!

Very, very cool of Rick to get those duckets to Roger!

  • Bret

    Classy move by Rick.

  • rob

Congrats Roger. Thanks 48 Minutes of Hell and Stubhub.

Man if I didn’t have to work I might have had a chance to be the first to respond.

  • Mark B

Well, I would have loved to be the winner, but I didn’t know the answer and I live in Austin, so it’s a fairly long haul on short notice. I’m thinking about attending a few playoff games. I guess I need to get on it and buy some tickets. I’ve never been to a Spurs game in person, and I’m sure it’s a blast.

  • Chris

StubHub is a ticket broker, if I’m not mistaken??

Sorry, but ticket brokers are next to snake oil salesmen in my book.

  • Roger Barton

Is there any Tickets Left? Hank Egan is the Answer.

  • MSteele

    Credit to Rick, great gesture

  • Kaiser

Very Spur-like move by Rick, and congratulations to Roger! Extremely jealous, sitting at University here in Sydney…at least we beat them Hawks!

  • http://espn.com Susan Dazet

Hank Egan I will have to travel from Temple so I need atleast 2 1/2 hrs notice.

  • SpurINhouston

Hank Egan!!!!!! DOHhh…too late. Am I a winner?? LOL.

  • idahospur

Good job by everyone. Great to see this on the site.

  • badger

Stubhub rules!! I’ve bought a few pairs of Spurs tix on their site this year and got super deals by buying within hours or even within a day of a game.

The site lets you print your tickets on the spot and use a cc to pay.

Admittedly, the better deals come when the opponent is sub .500.

  • jacobd

Nice Gesture Rick and mr. Varner! Congrats Roger!

  • wannabe_fake_tough_guy

Roger, please send me an email.

I had the correct answer before Tim posted the question. So I am, in fact, the “real” winner.

    LOL!

Have a good time at the game!

    PS, good job, Rick.

  • The pragmaticist

Scalpers are scum, but Stubhub is strictly an exchange, and a highly competent one. They don’t scoop up all the best tickets and then sell at a premium; they just let people who have tickets and can’t use them sell to people who want them.

  • jacobd

my wife gets my Spurs tickets from the Stub here in Dallas … mavs fans give up VERY nice tickets to us Spurs fans here in D .. hah! =)
