Tiago Splitter could play Monday vs. Clippers

by

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said before San Antonio’s opening game against the Indiana Pacers that Tiago Splitter could be ready to play in time for the team’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

“I think after New Orleans, he’s got a good shot to be ready,” Popovich said.

Popovich added that Splitter has been playing 3-on-3 basketball and participated in contact drills.

“I wouldn’t expect him for Saturday,” Pop said. “But after that I think he’ll be beating my door down.”

I am very excited to see Tiago as a Spur.

I wonder what the TV ratings will be in Brazil?

    Finally, some news on SPLITTER.

After seeing the PACERS game its safe to say they could use a big body in there.

how about that james anderson? matched up with danny granger and going strong to the cup. he did pass up some open attempts, but that will change in short time. i perdict a tough learning curve from tiago. not only has he missed time, but i got to watch the usa brazil game more closely and he will certainly be foul prone in the early going, but his passing is poetic…

definitely need him in the middle, but wow we have firepower! hopefully with splitter against the clips, our defense will firm up.

Agree with you rj. Anderson is patient, he doesn’t rush. He play fairly solid defense and also got 10pts. As the season goes I think he will gain more confidence that he will get better and better. A high potential guy.

typo. game is on Monday, not Sunday. awesome news though. anderson looked pretty solid in his debut. he just needs to take simmons minutes because throughout preseason and today he doesn’t seem to do anything - airballed badly a wide open three pointer with quarter ending.

Jim, I usually never feel the need to correct you but will in this case….that is actually GREAT NEWS! Splitter is going to solidify the frontcourt and take some pressure off of Blair. I also thought R-Jeff debuting with 16 points was HUGE! This is the Spurs year I am telling you fellas! GO SPURS GO, DRIVE FOR FIVE!!!!!

I’m going to be tolerant on my excitement about Tiago finally getting to play. He hasn’t played game one in an nba environment to this date. So I’ll hold anticipation to a minimum until he gets a few games under his belt and actually shows some reason to be excited about.

How good does Splitter have to be to make us true contenders?

Is Scola and Varejao rolled into one guy good enough?

What if he gives us an Antonio McDyess who can deliver for 34mpg every night?

How much does it also depend on Blair being at least as effective as Carl Landry?
