Just a violent 1 on 1 destruction by Tony. The fact that he did it against arguably the fastest player in the league in Barbosa makes it all the better.
That behind the back, out of control, jig and zab dribble was pheomenal. I actually stood up and yelled so loudly I got in trouble from the wife-those darn midnight games!
Timothy Varner: My favorite part of the clip is Amare’s defensive effort…
I was thinking the same. Not even a “full” reach! What a joke. It bothers me so much that he was pick for the All-Star game.
The hesitation from Parker was the key for the move. Barbosa seems to think about closing-in and get a steal but then Parker gets the ball back the other way and crosses him over beautifully. The weak side “help” from Amar’e was crucial to make it look like he crossed over the whole team.
Though Amare’s reach is the best, Shaq gave a rather lazy attempt at help as well.
Amusingly, Nash actually tries to help out Barbosa, but then goes back to find his man after it looks like Parker is going away (which is what he should do), only to find out too late that Parker’s going to the basket. Great communication on that one all around.
This is great. I watched this game with a friend of mine that’s a Suns fan, and even he admits that Amare is one of the laziest defenders out there. If I had a body like his, there if no way Tony would have gotten past me, because even though I’m no where near a professional level, I always see defense as my A game.

Is he still the only player to reach 50+ points for the season?

Sick, just a sick move from Parker. He absolutely deserves his All-Star berth-this guy will kill you one on one.
But I have to agree the best part of this clip is highlighting the defensive apathy of the suns.

I know Brandon Roy had 52 in one game, not sure about anyone else.
