Truth About It on Manu and Fab

Kyle Weidie on the recent Oberto/Ginobili reunion:

Oberto may not be in the best situation, but when the Spurs came to town for a game on January 2nd, at least Fab got to bring in the new year with some familiar faces in his buddies Manu Ginobili and Michael Finley. I spoke with Oberto about his reunion. He told me it was great to get up with his friends, and they always take a photo, such as the one at the top of this post, to put on Facebook, etc.. He’s close to Ginobili because of the obvious Argentina connection and said he became friends with Finley because they started in San Antonio the same season and used to live a couple blocks from each other. Fab said the trio went to dinner the night before the game at Cafe Milano in Georgetown.

This post about the relationship between Manu and Fab reminds me of a conspiracy theory that’s been lurking in the back of my mind for the past few years: Is it possible that the *real* reason the Spurs never brought in Luis Scola was that there was/is some bad blood between him and Manu? I generally despise conspiracy theories, but this is one issue where I really think there was more going on behind the scenes than the Spurs have ever publicly acknowledged.

I doubt it. When the Spurs play the Rockets, Manu always puts up pics of him eating dinner with Scola on his Facebook page. There may have been something else going on, but I seriously doubt it was an issue between Luis and Manu.

No Manu loves playing with Scola. In fact if Manu leaves he’s already said he would love to play in Houston of course with Scola.
