What’s The Story: Spurs crush Kings

First, Russell Westbrook is not human. He’s Killer Instinct’s Eyedol right now.

Now on the Spurs, they’re staring to look like they care again. I loved their spirit, their effort and their competitiveness. It was very encouraging. Next team in the line is Denver. Thought they’re a mess of a team as of now, after firing B.Shaw they have won thelast 2 games so the Spurs must not take them lightly. They’re in an “I don’t give a f**k” attitude. After Denver, we play the Bulls, Raptors and Cleveland. Chicago is hurt w/ no good backcourt whatsoever and the Raptors are in a middle o a losing streak. Cleveland’s game should be a good good game. I wont mind losing to the Cavaliers tho’ if they win all 3 games before.

It’s been a while since I’ve been optimistic about the Spurs this year, but I’m once again hopeful about this team. Maybe cautiously optimistic is a more appropriate term, as the rest of this homestand will show whether SA is really turning the corner, or if these past couple of games have been outliers.

I’ve read instances where people have nitpicked these victories because they were against “bad” teams, but I think these were all good wins for the Spurs. The defense has, for the most part, been tight, and the offense - specifically the shooting! - has been coming around. Visibly. And of course, we now have a couple of solid games from Parker, which is clearly a huge plus for this team (fingers crossed that it continues). Most importantly, IMO, is that the team is playing in rhythm and that the confidence is returning.

I’ve also noticed that with Tiago’s insertion back into the starting line-up (and with Tony’s return from the dead), we’re starting to see the return of the traditional motion offense that has served the Spurs so well, and we’re seeing a move away from the post-heavy “let’s iso Kawhi” offense that, frankly, has not been anywhere near as effective as hoped. Here’s hoping SA remains with the offense that has taken it to three consecutive deep playoff runs the past three seasons.

“I’ve read instances where people have nitpicked these victories because they were against “bad” teams…”

Of course the victories were good. Last 2 seasons the Spurs were murdering the “bad” teams more than anything. Actually, that was the main theme last season. They crushed “bad” teams and lose vs West’s top teams. They were 4-11 vs HOU/POR/OKC/LAC specifically.
