What’s The Story: Worst loss of the season?

by

  • Sad Sad Truth

    downhill spiral is starting
TP is not returning to form, 3 straight losses coming out of the all star break
At this rate okc will get the 7th seed and spurs will be facing the warriors in the first round

It’s been alluded by some of the tweets on the article, but what’s most dispiriting is how infrequently SA has been getting to the line the past few games. It has little to do with the officiating. When you’re not getting to the line, it’s generally a sign that you’re playing timidly, with no aggressiveness whatsoever. It boggles the mind that the machine that tore through the NBA last post-season is playing so listlessly.

Glad SA has some money to play with next off-season. Hopefully Buford still has the touch.

Guess this can be interpreted as the start of bottoming out, a loss we absolutely can’t afford. Still time to right the ship but it’s growing ever more precious by the game.

I did not see the game…so I will just put forth a season a couple of observations on the (winning) opponent Monday night.
    2014-15 Utah Jazz:
No winning months thus far this season (4-4 in February so far)
10-15 home record w/o the two victories over the Spurs

Oh, and to answer Trevor’s question; definitely the worst loss of the season
    …….so far.

The big three are…the not so big three anymore and NO ONE should be complaining. We thought it was the end after we lost to memphis in the first round…then Kawhi happened and we had three seasons of bonus ball including two championships (OK one, and the ginobilli foul on dirk makes it 2 that just ridiculously got away…ok the fisher ridiculous buzzer beater so 3). Kobe dies of injuries and the spurs are fading away. We love these guys for everything they did but like your parents there just comes a day when it hits you square in the face. “THEY’RE OLD” “WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?”. the truth is it didnt JUST happen…it’s been happening. Kawhi and Danny had Excellent years and moments last season with Patty and Boris playing great. It’s not Tony, or Tim or Manu…Danny Green has been lost on offense in 2015, Kawhi had SERIOUS eye issues with lingering effects to mess up his shooting, mills had a shooting arm rotator cuff injury and Boris has played in more games then anyone else since he came over from charlotte. He got his contract, he played great, but like anyone trying to 4 peat….We’re burnt out, damaged physically from the effort the last 3 years tolled. Even Bellinelli sat a good chunk and splitter has calf issues. Unless kawhi takes “THE LEAP” like he did in the finals last year we’re bowing out in the first round and manu…may say goodbye. Hell maybe all three will say that’s it. Whatever happens it’s time for us to be good fans and simply stand and applaud the effort. We won the war and gave the good fight. This season has been very aged veterans playing with the wounded/the shell shocked/the war weary… Thanks for the show tonight guys. You’re the best.

thedrwolff5 has a great outlook on the sprus in general. Sad to say, but last year might be the last time in several decades that a championship is won in San Antonio. I’m not going to get into the whole “we were lucky with tim” side of the story, but this season is clearly a reality check for me. SA is always going to have a tough time acquiring existing valuable talent in the league, and after our selfless big 3 is done, its going to get tough, real tough. The pressure is really going to be on buford and pop in the next few years to draft/sign players to fill the big 3’s shoes. Players I want to keep going into the next few seasons: Leonard (obviously), Green, Bynes, Mills, Diaw, Kyle Anderson, and maybe Ayres if he gets more coordinated. Players I do not want to keep: Splitter (over paid and too soft), Parker (very said to say, but since he’s not an elite shooter, the slower he gets, the exponentially worse he will get), Belineli (would like to keep him, but we got him for his shooting and he hasnt done that well in a while, if he picks it up, i would keep him), and for the love of god Matt Boner (aka red-life-size-paper-weight). Free agency will always be tough for us because of our small market, but players with personalities like manu and timmy will always fit in our system (which i never want to change, if possible). Players around NBA i can see on our squad (and unrelated to current contractual position): Gragic, Jimmy Butler, MARC GOSAL (pretty please), LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE (pretty please), Demarcus Cousins (jk), Kyle Lowry, George Hill (bring him back!), Gortat, Anyone from Atlanta’s Starting 5, Mike Conley…. and i have to get back to work.
